Phil seems like a really decent guy. He's in a crappy situation. I can only hope he gains access to his son, and that his son is OK. That's so much more important than the guns. By the time his son is 16, the lad will be able to choose for himself to maintain access. Given the rates of domestic violence and the number of murders of women, (and sometimes the children) perpetrated by estranged intimate partners, there's no denying the Police are simply trying to manage the risks. IMO, if you're a gun owner, at the slightest hint someone is going to exploit the Police's mission to keep people safe, you need to be able to objectively prove your movements and conversations. Record them with a body cam just like Police do. Keep the fact you're making recordings of conversations to yourself. It's insurance, not leverage. Your objective is less about proving she is a liar but proving you didn't do something. Ideally, if you need to be near her during pick-ups, always wait outside and always be accompanied by a woman. A similar thing happened to my neighbour who had approached some noisy people to be quiet and not to wake his child. The Police were called and his guns were impounded. It took sometime before they were returned; although I don't know what procedure he used to do so. I would be interested to learn under what statute the Police are empowered to act like this? I can imagine they might cite some pretext of public safety initially. However, the situation should be resolved by them in some specified time, after all they are our public servants and paid for by us. It shouldn't require litigation at our expense.

In retrospect, it would have been wise to contact the Police local to where the child was to be collected, to inform them of the arrangement prior to arrival. A completely unreasonable thing to have to do. But, in the light of the insidiousness of the mothers actions it might be a cautious thing to do. You have my great sympathy and best wishes.

I think the reason behind this is the Numbers of Deer getting out of hand because there just isn't enough shooters allowed to hunt them, it's seen in nearly every form of shooting you only have to watch this channel to see that it's the same faces time after time be it pigeon shooting or stalking deer, out of 100% of shooting is done by 20 to 30 % of shooters and the other 70% scrape about on tiny bits of land, if the shooting was made accessible to all who want to shoot Deer then there wouldn't be a problem with over population and that's a Fact. A very respected Deer stalker that sometimes comes on this channel has said the very same him self, It's the same with pigeon and rabbit shooting you see a field getting hammered by pigeons so you go see the farmer to ask permission and all you get is either we have someone doing the shooting or its all run by the Gamekeeper, and I've seen fields destroyed by pigeons or eaten out 20 yards by rabbits but not a chance of gaining permission. You see on here and UA-cam sheep farmers crying about loosing lambs to foxes and corvids, I've asked for permission to help control them but it's the same old we have someone on or its the game keeper. So I can sympathise with some folk who just give up with asking But not with farmers or land owners that have problems with pest species of one kind or another because there's enough folk that would be more than grateful to help out, Now we have a big problem with wild Deer both in scotland and England I'm not going to the chance to shoot any So yes let's introduce a large Predator why not it won't impact on my sport or shooting because I don't have any. We have hundreds of thousands of acres of land with hundreds of thousands of Deer In different species and the chosen few shooters can't control them Then Why not introduce The Lynx or even the Wolf.

Well the tories wasted a big majority and bankrupted Britain over covid, so what do we expect? More of the same!

The Labour manifesto contains just 87 words on farming. Which, when translated into English basically say: “We hate you, you meat-eating rural halfwits.” It’s even been suggested that inheritance tax will have to be paid on farm land. Which means that in about 20 years’ time, there will be no farm land. And therefore no food, apart from in all the town-centre, nuclear-free, South African peace stores, where you will be able to buy sustainable tofu.

Urbanites don't understand the countryside, don't want to, its simply something pretty to admire when on holiday. They have no idea how the rural system works and how its managed . Parliament will always look to concrete more rural areas they can tax and control it easier. Urbanisation has to stop now before there is no countryside left for every one to enjoy .
